World T.E.A.M. Sports (The Exceptional Athlete Matters), World T.E.A.M. Sports Board member and mountaineer, Erik Weihenmayer, and Ian Adamson, the most successful adventure racer of all time
What:
The Real Deal Inclusive Sports Adventure is a multi-day, multi-sport TEAM-building wilderness adventure challenge. Competitors work together in teams combining participants with and without disabilities to meet the challenges of the terrain, their skills, strength, endurance and teamwork.
When:
Friday-Sunday, June 27, 28th, & 29th, 2008. TEAM training led by Ian Adamson, acclaimed adventure racer, on Friday June 27th, challenge takes place on June 28th & 29th.
Where:
The event is based in the heart of the Rocky Mountains; rafting the mighty Colorado River, hiking dramatic peaks and biking through beautiful alpine meadows.
Publicity:
We will be the featured story on Jeep World of Adventure Sports,(formerly Wide World Of Sports), on NBC Sports next summer after the event.
Why:
World T.E.A.M. Sports creates inclusive sports TEAMS; using the powerful platform of sports to bring together the disabled and able-bodied communities. The Real Deal Inclusive Sports Adventure celebrates true diversity and emphasizes how much more effective we can be by working together as a TEAM.
The Real Deal Inclusive Sports Adventure highlights the potential and capabilities of all participants. Like previous World T.E.A.M. Sports events, this race is about meeting challenges, a sense of camaraderie, and developing the lasting knowledge that ALL of the participants are integral members of our society.
Cost:
The cost is $10,000 per team of five participants. This includes all costs associated with the Real Deal Inclusive Sports Adventure, including food, drinks, course management, and a full day training seminar. The 2008 Real Deal Inclusive Sports Adventure is limited to 20 TEAMS, one of which is TEAM Semper Fi, a TEAM of Marines with and without disabilities, who have served in the Iraq or Afghanistan wars.
