FACE OF AMERICA 2006 Bike Ride
THANK YOU TO ALL 2006 FACE OF AMERICA RIDERS, SPONSORS, AND VOLUNTEERS!!!:

On April 29th and 30th, 26 active duty servicemen, including 10 who had been disabled in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, joined over 100 other riders, including able-bodied and disabled civilians and veterans from over 20 states across the country in the two day, 110 mile 2006 Face of America bike ride from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C.

The 2006 Face of America Ride was about much more than a bike ride covering 110 miles.  The mission of the event was an opportunity to thank the servicemen for their service to our country as well as an opportunity for them to be active participants on our T.E.A.M.   However, by the end of the ride it was unclear as to who had been helping whom. Face of America 2003

World T.E.A.M. (The Exceptional Athlete Matters) Sports (WTS),  staged its second annual 280-mile bike ride to remember the tragedies of September 11th, entitled Face of America 2003.  For three days, more than 500 individuals cycled across our national landscape to remind ourselves, and the world, that we are all free and we all ride the
same road.

Cyclists with and without disabilities, from around
the world rode from Battery Park City to the
ferry past the Statue of Liberty to the shores of New
Jersey, continuing through Delaware, and Maryland,
ending their exhilarating ride in Washington DC.

"Rarely does America , or the world for that matter,
witness such a pure sports event," said Peter Kiernan,
co-chairman of WTS.  "This adventure will bring
together an amazing team of people with different
backgrounds, including persons with disabilities who
were all affected by the tragedies of 9/11."

The Face of America 2003 team members were all
affected in different ways by the tragedies of
September 11th and are all tremendous examples of
individuals who have been able to look to the promise
of tomorrow.

WORLD T.E.A.M. SPORTS SPORTS CLINICS 2003

All Sports Day 2003, organized by World T.E.A.M.
Sports, was an energetic, educational, active, fun and
free sports mentoring event for young people, both
with and without disabilities, grades 3-8, who live in
the Washington , DC metropolitan area.  World T.E.A.M.
Sports, believing strongly in community service,
brought together a unique and diverse group of elite
athletes and celebrities who provided participants
with the insight, courage and conviction to realize
that despite differences in abilities, the sheer internal will of the human spirit allows us to accomplish our goals.

Face of America 2002

Over fourteen hundred bicyclists and hand cyclists gathered at ground zero in New York City where they began a three-day,
two-night, 280-mile journey that concluded at the
Pentagon on September 22.  The event brought together
disabled and able-bodied participants from around the
world to honor the lives of those killed in the
terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 .  The ride was
an athletic challenge affirming WTS' belief that the
sheer internal will of the human person is what allows
us to accomplish nearly impossible goals despite our
differences.  It was by far the most diverse team WTS
has ever assembled, including athletes from 12 countries, including Israeli and Palestinian athletes. It was the largest contingency of hand cyclists ever assembled for a single sporting event.

WORLD T.E.A.M. SPORTS SPORTS CLINICS 2002

A day of multi-sport clinics instructed by elite
athletes and created specifically to benefit the youth
of lower Manhattan --- a day to appreciate the
importance of sports in the lives of our youth. Recent
Olympians, Paralympians, professional and world-class
athletes, as well as representatives from a number of
New York City sports and youth organizations,
including the New York City Sports Commission, joined
the youth of New York City in an afternoon of free
sports clinics.  The clinics will provided these young
people (K-8) with a fun, energetic afternoon of
instruction, in a variety of sports, while offering an
opportunity to meet and interact with their national
sporting heroes and role models.
